Rainforest RecipesMost people probably do not think of the rainforest as a place that is rich in food, or that is well known for its variety of dishes. If you were to live in such an environment, rainforest recipes might consist of some very interesting dishes. The natives in many rainforests usually eat animals that might not be common to most of us in the Western world. For example, lizards and insects are commonly consumed, as well as small antelopes and even rats! Of course, most of these foods are things that many of us would never consider eating. On the other hand, there are some unique and creative rainforest recipes that you can make at home, using mostly natural ingredients, including some things that can be found in the rainforests. Since various fruits and nuts are commonly grown in the rainforests, try making your own trail mix. Combine cashews, raisins, sunflower seeds, walnuts, dried bananas, and any other goodies you can think of. This mix makes a great companion on long walks or hiking trips and provides a good source of energy. Rainforest recipes don’t necessarily have to be made with ingredients that are only found there. However, they should be healthy and provide natural foods such as fruits, vegetables, juices, and nuts. Find out what kind of plants and foods grow in the rainforest, and then try to create some rainforest recipes of your own. These concoctions make a great lesson plan for teachers, or a great way to teach your own children about the natural things that are found in the rainforest. You can also make fun dishes and give them clever names related to the rainforest. Make a thorough list of all foods found there, and then be creative and mix and match to make the perfect recipe. |
