African Rainforest

The African rainforest is one of the world’s most precious natural resources. Thirty-eight different countries make up the entire rainforest, and it has long been known as one of the most valuable pieces of land and nature in the entire world. This beautiful area of land has been threatened with destruction due to logging, deforestation, and general disrespect for its resources due to corporate gain. Most of the African rainforest is located in West and Central Africa. There are many common plants located within the forest, such as banana plants and cacao bean plants (which are used to make coffee), as well as other plants that are much more rare. In addition, the African rainforest is host to a variety of chimps and gorillas, all of which are nearing extinction.

Another problem that remains a threat to the African rainforest is poaching. Fortunately, many organizations have joined together in order to fight this horrible crime, and poaching has become less common in recent years. Mining also poses a threat to the rainforest, and metals such as gold, copper, and precious diamonds are often sought out there. Because of the myriad of threats against the rainforest, there are now a great deal of wonderful and helpful organizations that have been created to promote its preservation. The number of species within the African rainforest is quite large, and many of these species are not found anywhere else in the world. Additionally, there are many native tribes who still live within the forests’ boundaries. With all of the countless precious resources that the rainforest contains, it’s important that people are educated about its importance to keep these resources safe and to allow them to grow for future generations. Various informational sites are available online that tell you how you can help to contribute to the rainforests’ well being.
